FINAL WITH CREDITS from Jack Stokoe on Vimeo.
This is my final piece. Since the last "final piece" I have added a title at the end to give credit to the youtubers in which used their footage and have used in my video. To whom I'm thank full.

Poster
This is the album advertisement poster I have made that will be seen in magazines such as NME, Mojo, Q and similar "Indie" music magazines. From my research material I noticed that the majority of the time the main image was the front cover of the record enlarged to an A4 size. I have used this format by enlarging the cover image (with the same tint). Another thing I saw commonly in magazine posters was the release date, the band's website and the name of the first single of the album in the middle of the poster. I have also used star ratings due to this being very common in music adverts and almost a universally accepted from of review plus comments from well known magazines.

Although this image is squashed I made this to show how my product compares to a real music advert in comparison to its cd cover. As you Can see The main image on the cd is kept on the stone roses "20th anniversary" yet it has been expanded to a A4 format. This Is similar to what I've done by enlarging my cd cover image to an A4 format and overlaying the image with reviews. Also the colour scheme that's used on the stone roses album is kept on the album advert(red white blue and gold). I've tried to replicate this on my piece by only using colours I've used in the album (burgundy, sky blue and white). Also a prominent feature on the stone roses album and advert is the signature lemon ( their logo). This is seen on mine with my suedes logo that is seen on both the album cover and album advert. Overall I'm very happy with my advert . I believe it does look like a professional package that could be a real media piece.

This is the back of the digipack booklet and bares all the royalties to who owns what within the album. sometimes this is the last page in the booklet but in most of my research of Morrissey, smiths stone roses and Jake Bugg albums this page was on the back of the Booklet. The retro feel is still kept with the burgundy background yet the text is white. I decided that aesthetically the page looked better and easier to read if the text was white yet the burgundy and sky blue colour way is still kept on the back contents/song page. The back bares the record company logo and website as seen on all of the research material.
This is the contents/ index page which were prominent in all of my research material. The image is taken from the music video and is a landscape of Sunderland countryside which continues the regional identity theme. The logo colour has changed yet it still keeps the theme of the piece by having the retro burgundy with the white song list.
These next two pages were the hardest to decide upon what they would look like. I would say in all cd digipacks theirs a 50//50 split in if in the booklet theirs the song lyrics or just information about the band. I chose to go for the lyrics due to it being more popular in my research material. I used Morrissey's "you are the quarry" booklet as main inspiration due to it being simple yet effective. Having 2 or three songs per page in size 8 font. This makes the text easily readable. Plus in keeping with the style I underlined the title of the song and used the same text for the title as the band logo.

Audience feedback from "the final cut" of the music video
overall I'm really pleased with the result, the audience feedback suggests there is nothing left to do on the piece.
I used sound recording because I believed that it allowed the interviewee open up more about their opinions plus most of them said they'd prefer not to be filmed.

Digipack
I've looked at the digipacks from morrissey's you are the quarry album and the smiths strange ways and louder than bombs ( of which are major inspirations to the band and production) to come to the conclusion that in the digipacks they consist of maybe one or two pages with illustrations of the band and then the rest are song sheets. Also in the reverse to the front cover is where the copyright and credits are located informing the audice of who has been involved in the making of the album.

Nearly final cut. from Jack Stokoe on Vimeo.
This is Nearly the final cut of my music video. Theres still more editing to be done but overall I'm very happy with the result. Ive added the archive 70s / 80s footage I found on the internet and I believe Its given the video greater depth and almost a secondary narrative. I've tried to interweave the gloomy footage of the main character with the upbeat, positve vhs footage of the 80s holiday footage. This gives the story more depth due to it clearly denoting to the audice that the main character is disatisfyed with modern life and is fond of the past, this is weighted by the opening scene in which we see the character with 80s smiths posters and vinyls. This was intended to coinside with the song's natrual flow of Johnny Marr's upbeat rolling chords and Morrissey's downbeat ( almost miserable) lyrics. I believe this fits well and works in the peice and will please audiences of the smiths and to others who may not be as keen on the band. Another factor that may attract original smiths fans is the homage that is payed to the past, this was a smiths / Morrissey hallmark seen on the album covers and single sleeves Such as "the queen is dead" which features an image of Alain Delon from the 1964 film L'Insoumis.
I belive the target audience for this peice is around the 16 - 50 years old. This is due to the use of meise en scene capturing the essence of the smiths for new younger fans of the band and original followers allike. There is clearly a market for this video due to recent figures showing an 80% increase in viynl sales in 2013 and among them the re released meat is murder was in the top 100. Thus suggesting a new breed of "retro" loving teenagers who are egar to relive a past in which they never lived. Also Morrissey's autobiography was released late last year but was the fastest selling book all year at 47th best selling book of 2012 with selling over 140,729 copies in the uk ( in print not ebook)
Current issues:
At 0:25 ( the scene in which the character is walking in the alley ) I'm not to sure about the cuts. There is no significant beat at this moment in the song to hit so it leaves a bareness in which to cut. My thoughts currently are to see what a crossfade may look like between the cuts to see if the scene runs smoother.
At 1:40 the shot of the rollercoaster is held a little too long and will be shortened.
All through the carnival scene ( from around 1:50 ) the shots are good but need to be edited so that the cut hits the beat of the song.
At 2:37 there is an edit which cuts from a long shot of the main character to another long shot which dosent flow right. I believe that I will maybe see if i can cutaway to another 80s clip between the scenes.

reaction to the edited version of the Music video
This feedback from kath is really help full. She mentions the shakiness being a real issue to which agreee. In the video she suggests using after effects ( a program which I'm unfarmilliar with ) to stablise the shots, I will take this on board and may venture into looking at after effects for the solution.
